ABOUT 100 WOMEN

1 hour + 100 women + $100 = $10,000 x 4 meetings = $40,000+ helping those in need in Madison County

100 Women Who Care was founded on the idea that together, even with small contributions, we can make a big difference.

In 2006, Karen Dunigan, a community-minded woman in Jackson, Michigan, formed an alliance of women with the intent to streamline fundraising help for their local agencies. The original group of 117 women has grown exponentially - the concept is so effective other communities have formed similar groups. There are now almost 350 chapters meeting around the world!

THE PROCESS

The process is simple, but incredibly impactful.  Upon joining, members may each nominate up to two charities of their choice.  Only charities serving Madison County, Alabama will be considered.  Those charities are vetted and then placed in the “pot”.

Before each quarterly meeting, three charities are drawn to be presented.  The members who nominated the selected charities present on their behalf.  After the presentations, the members vote on which charity they would like to receive the collective donation.  Each member donates $100 towards the selected charity.  With over 100 members, our small individual contributions become significant.  Members who are in good standing may send in their checks prior to the meeting if they're unable to attend; thus allowing the member to vote in absentia.  After all members’ checks are collected, we schedule a time to surprise the selected charity with our gift!

TOGETHER, we can significantly impact the many local organizations and agencies devoted to improving lives.
